Matallana Rojas, Betty Kiara
vegetales, poseedoras de principios bioactivos, se han ensayado con buenos resultados;
la calidad de las carcasas y de la carne.; In global poultry production, the trend is toward abandoning the use of antibiotic growth
promoters (AGPs) due to their link to health problems caused by bacterial resistance.
Research is underway to find replacements that provide adequate performance and
protection to ensure the economic viability of poultry farms. Several plant species
containing bioactive compounds have been tested with promising results; however,
innovations are needed to enhance their properties. Garlic and fermentation, both as raw
material and process, were the focus of this research, which aimed to replace AGPs by
evaluating feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and economic benefits. Four
treatments were implemented (T1, control with AGP; T2, 0.75 ml; T3, 1.5 ml; and T4, 3
ml of fermented garlic juice per liter of drinking water). The effect on the evaluated
variables showed that T2 and T3 could replace AGP, obtaining better indicators, although
not statistically significant, but significant from an economic standpoint. Its use is
recommended, and further research is advised to determine the effect on carcass and meat
quality.

MS, PC, EE, FC así como el rendimiento en Kg de GH/kg de semilla y kg de MS/kg de
semilla presentaron diferencias estadísticas (p<0.05), obteniendo mejores resultados con
agua potable.
hallaron diferencias estadísticas (p>0,05) entre tratamientos; The study was conducted in the province and district of Lambayeque from August 2 to 17,

2025. Its objectives were: (a) to determine the effect of water from two wells at the FIZ-
UNPRG Livestock Complex on the productive indicators and organoleptic characteristics

of hydroponically germinated barley; (b) to determine the dry matter (DM), crude protein
(CP), ether extract (EE), crude fiber (CF), and ash yields (kg/m2) of each treatment; (c) to
determine the highest yields of fresh hydroponic germinated barley and dry matter,
expressed as kg per kg of processed seed; (d) to determine the production costs of the
evaluated treatments; and (e) to determine the organoleptic characteristics of the
hydroponically germinated barley produced. Three treatments using different irrigation
water sources were implemented: T1, drinking water; T2, well water with a circular ring;
and T3, water from an open, ground-level well. A completely randomized design was used,
with 16 trays and two replicates of eight trays per treatment. The analysis of variance
showed statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) among treatments for the yields
(kg/m2) of hydroponically germinated barley, DM, CP, EE, and CF, as well as for the yield
of hydroponically germinated barley per kg of seed and the yield of DM per kg of seed.
The best results were obtained with drinking water. No statistically significant differences
(p > 0.05) were found among treatments for ash yield per square meter or for stem length
and color.
