An ordinal logistic regression model was adjusted with the intention of describing, predicting and analyzing patterns within the population studied. The research had a quantitative and correlational approach, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. A population of 140 secondary school students from the Manuel Vegas Castillo Educational Institution, Suyo, was used during the year 2023, with the purpose of identifying which variables of the individual and institutional factors are significantly associated with school performance in the area of mathematics. The results revealed that male students had a higher proportion at the “outstanding achievement” level (21.3%) compared to male students (11.8%) there are more female students at the “in progress” level (43.3%) than male students (36.8%) we also observed that both sexes have a similar percentage at the “beginning” level the group of students from 15 to 17 years old registered the highest percentage of “outstanding achievement” (24.6%) while those under 14 years old have the lowest percentage (10.4%) and students over 18 years old have a very high percentage at the “in progress” level (80.0%) indicating that the majority did not reach the “expected achievement” or “outstanding achievement” levels. Regarding the factors associated with school performance, a significant relationship was identified with age, housing tenure, academic background in primary school, constant support from parents, and time dedicated to studying. At the institutional level, the most important factors were teaching procedures, teaching resources, and the physical conditions of the institution and its location.es_PE
