Características demográficas y económicas asociadas a la situación laboral en el distrito de Chiclayo, 2024

Abstract

El empleo es un factor clave en el desarrollo económico y social de cualquier sociedad, pues influye directamente en la calidad de vida de la población y en el crecimiento económico de una población. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo determinar las características demográficas y económicas asociadas a la situación laboral en el distrito de Chiclayo, 2024. La metodología empleada fue de tipo cuantitativa, con un diseño no experimental y un enfoque explicativo, la muestra estuvo compuesta por 2282 habitantes del distrito de Chiclayo en edad de trabajar entrevistados por la EPEN (Encuesta Permanente de Empleo Nacional)- 2024. Los resultados revelaron que variables como ser jefe de hogar (OR = 1.684, p = 0.006), haber trabajado recientemente (OR = 688.1, p < 0.01), contar con experiencia laboral (OR = 1.830, p = 0.017) y estar afiliado a un sistema de pensiones (OR = 1.445, p = 0.033) tienen una asociación significativa con la probabilidad de empleo. Además, se observó que el 59.5% de la población no trabaja, y que factores como la educación superior y el sexo también están vinculados al empleo en la ciudad e Chiclayo, destacando que los hombres y las personas con mayor nivel educativo tienen mayores probabilidades de trabajar. En conclusión, las características demográficas y económicas tienen una influencia significativa en la situación laboral de la población de Chiclayo en 2024. Variables como ser jefe de hogar, haber trabajado recientemente, contar con experiencia laboral y estar afiliado a un sistema de pensiones están estrechamente asociadas con el empleo.

Employment is a key factor in the economic and social development of any society, as it directly influences the quality of life of the population and the economic growth of a population. The objective of this study was to determine the demographic and economic characteristics associated with the employment situation in the district of Chiclayo, 2024. The methodology employed was quantitative, with a non-experimental design and an explanatory approach. The sample consisted of 2282 working-age inhabitants of the district of Chiclayo interviewed by the EPEN 2024. The results revealed that variables such as being head of household (OR = 1.684, p = 0.006), having recently worked (OR = 688.1, p < 0.01), having work experience (OR = 1.830, p = 0.017) and being affiliated to a pension system (OR = 1.445, p = 0.033) have a significant association with the probability of employment. In addition, it was observed that 59.5% of the population does not work, and that factors such as higher education and sex are also linked to employment, highlighting that men and people with a higher level of education are more likely to work. In conclusion, demographic and economic characteristics have a significant influence on the employment situation of Chiclayo's population in 2024. Variables such as being head of household, having worked recently, having work experience, and being affiliated with a pension system are closely associated with employment.
