Selección De Las Tecnologías De Acceso A La Banda Ancha Aplicando La Metodología: Proceso De Análisis Jerárquico (AHP)

Abstract

Actualmente un gran porcentaje de usuarios que desean acceder a la Banda Ancha y los que ya cuentan con ella, desconocen las ventajas y limitaciones de las diferentes tecnologías de acceso; además de ello, no cuentan con la necesaria información, ni con la metodología que le ayude a seleccionar adecuadamente una de estas tecnologías. En este trabajo de investigación se realizó un diagnóstico situacional del uso y desempeño de la Tecnología de Acceso a la Banda Ancha de una empresa de transportes, a través del análisis de la red local encontrada en las instalaciones.

El diagnóstico efectuado permitió identificar una serie de deficiencias con respecto a la seguridad, respaldo, calidad de servicio y escalabilidad; que pusieron en evidencia las falencias en el proceso de selección de la tecnología de acceso. Con base a lo anterior, se puso de manifiesto que seleccionar la tecnología adecuada es una decisión técnica sumamente importante; por lo tanto, es necesario aplicar un método que ayude a facilitar este proceso.

El enfoque empleado para determinar la tecnología de acceso más adecuada para la empresa de transporte analizada en esta investigación fue el Proceso de Análisis Jerárquico (AHP). Esta metodología permite evaluar diferentes opciones considerando diversos criterios y se fundamenta en la premisa de que tanto la experiencia como el conocimiento de quienes toman decisiones son tan relevantes como los datos cuantitativos utilizados en la evaluación. A través de la aplicación del método AHP y la consulta a un grupo de especialistas, se generó un ranking o clasificación de las alternativas, lo que permitió seleccionar la opción más beneficiosa para la empresa de transporte.

Currently, a large percentage of users who want to access Broadband and those who already have it, are unaware of the advantages and limitations of the different access technologies; in addition, they do not have the necessary information, nor the methodology to help them adequately select one of these technologies. In this research work, a situational diagnosis of the use and performance of the Broadband Access Technology of a transport company was carried out, through the analysis of the local network found in the facilities.

The diagnosis carried out allowed us to identify a series of deficiencies with respect to security, backup, quality of service and scalability, which revealed the shortcomings in the access technology selection process. Based on the above, it became clear that selecting the appropriate technology is an extremely important technical decision; therefore, it is necessary to apply a method that helps facilitate this process.

The approach used to determine the most appropriate access technology for the transport company analyzed in this research was the Hierarchical Analysis Process (AHP). This methodology allows for the evaluation of different options considering various criteria and is based on the premise that both the experience and knowledge of those who make decisions are as relevant as the quantitative data used in the evaluation. Through the application of the AHP method and the consultation of a group of specialists, a ranking or classification of the alternatives was generated, which allowed the most beneficial option for the transport company to be selected.
