Minería y diversificación económica: Efectos sobre el PIB nacional para el periodo ene 2006 – dic 2022

Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar el impacto de la Producción Minera Metálica (PMM) en el crecimiento económico del Perú, representado por el Producto Bruto Interno (PBI), durante el período comprendido entre el primer trimestre de 2006 y el cuarto trimestre de 2022. Para ello, se empleó un modelo econométrico de regresión lineal simple, al que posteriormente se le aplicaron pruebas de estacionariedad, autocorrelación y heterocedasticidad, así como estimaciones robustas mediante el método de Newey-West. Los resultados evidenciaron una relación positiva y estadísticamente significativa entre la producción minera metálica y el PBI. Además, se observó que el 27 % de la variabilidad del PBI es explicada por la PMM, lo que indica la existencia de otros factores influyentes en el crecimiento económico. Finalmente, se concluyó que la minería metálica constituye un motor relevante para la economía nacional, aunque se recomendó impulsar una mayor diversificación productiva para garantizar un crecimiento económico sostenible.

This research aimed to analyze the impact of Metallic Mining Production (MMP) on Peru’s economic growth, represented by the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), during the period from the first quarter of 2006 to the fourth quarter of 2022. A simple linear regression econometric model was employed, along with stationarity, autocorrelation, and heteroskedasticity tests. Robust estimations were performed using the Newey-West method. The results showed a positive and statistically significant relationship between metallic mining production and GDP. Furthermore, it was found that 27% of GDP variability is explained by MMP, indicating the presence of other factors that influence economic growth. The study concluded that metallic mining is a key driver of the national economy; however, it recommended promoting greater productive diversification to ensure sustainable economic development.
