| es_PE |
| dc.description.abstract | The correct writing of Arabic numerals constitutes an essential foundation for the development of mathematical thinking in the early grades of primary education; however, the Peruvian educational reality evidences concerning deficiencies in this area, aggravated by the limited formative feedback that teachers can offer individually in contexts of large classrooms. Faced with this scenario, the present research aimed to develop and implement an educational application based on Deep Learning, called NumIA, to improve the correct tracing of Arabic numerals in first-grade primary students at the Fe y Alegría N.° 28 Educational Institution, located in Chiclayo, Lambayeque. The study was classified as quantitative, applied, explanatory in level, and with a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a single intact group, consisting of 30 students selected through intentional non-probabilistic sampling, equally distributed across three sections (10 per section). The NumIA application integrated an artificial intelligence model based on Siamese Networks capable of automatically evaluating the similarity between the student's stroke and predefined reference patterns, generating immediate and personalized feedback. The intervention was carried out over five weeks with three weekly sessions of 30 minutes each, under permanent teacher and researcher supervision. Pretest results yielded a global mean of 72.4%, with only 23% of students reaching the Outstanding Achievement level (AD), while in the posttest the global mean rose to 95.7%, representing a gain of +23.2 percentage points, with 90% of students at the AD level and the remaining 10% at level A, with levels B and C disappearing completely. The paired-samples t-test yielded statistically significant results across all three sections and in the global analysis (t = 7.33, p < 0.001), and effect sizes calculated using Cohen's d exceeded the large effect threshold in all analyses (global d = 1.34). Precision, the most deficient dimension in the initial assessment (71.8%), recorded the greatest gain in the posttest, evidencing the specific efficacy of NumIA's guided tracing module on the structural form of the digit. In conclusion, NumIA proved to be an effective tool for improving the correct tracing of Arabic numerals, producing a consistent, statistically verified improvement of very large practical magnitude, according to the criteria established by the specialized literature. | es_PE |
