The general objective of this research was to comprehensively evaluate the problem of water resources in an irrigation canal located in the Lambayeque region, which was carried out through four axes: diagnose the management of water resources, determine the water balance for different scenarios, calculate a tariff that effectively covers the costs associated with the service and compare waterproofing technologies. The methodology was applied with a non-experimental design. Data collection included the application of questionnaires and interviews, obtaining values of meteorological variables, scheduled hectares of agricultural campaigns, measurement of flows by means of gauging and quotations for cladding materials. The leaders and users, from their perspectives, indicated the existing problems around the hydraulic infrastructure: weeds, sedimentation, and mentioned proposals for improvement. Regarding the water balance, four scenarios were proposed considering different levels of water use and areas to be irrigated, obtaining monthly results with deficit and surplus values. Furthermore, a baseline budget exceeding 1.4 million soles was proposed to cover the activities required to ensure the proper functioning and preservation of the hydraulic infrastructure. Based on this budget, a water tariff was calculated. Finally, three alternatives were proposed for waterproofing the conveyance canal: plain concrete, geomembrane, and concrete-filled geocell. Of the three alternatives, the geomembrane was the most economical, whereas plain concrete was the most expensive.es_PE
