tipo aplicada, nivel descriptivo-correlacional y diseño no experimental longitudinal.
This research aimed to analyze the behavior of rice imports in Peru during the period 2005–
2024 and their relationship with associated economic, productive, and commercial factors. The
study was conducted under a quantitative approach, with an applied, descriptive-correlational,
and longitudinal non-experimental design. Documentary analysis was used as the data
collection technique, and a statistical data recording sheet was employed to gather information
from official sources such as SUNAT, MIDAGRI, BCRP, FAOSTAT, and MINCETUR. The
results showed that rice imports exhibited a fluctuating behavior throughout the study period,
with Brazil and Uruguay accounting jointly for 91.81% of total imports. Likewise, national rice
production showed an increasing trend, while exports maintained a marginal share of total
production. Correlation analysis revealed that national production was the only factor
significantly associated with rice imports (r = 0.475; p = 0.034). In contrast, the international
rice price and the exchange rate did not show significant relationships with import behavior. It
is concluded that rice imports in Peru were mainly associated with productive factors linked to
the supply needs of the domestic market.
