| es_PE |
| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this research was to evaluate the condition of the pavement on Luis Gonzales Avenue, located in the district of Chiclayo, using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method. Systematic visual inspections were conducted on sampling units, considering the type, extent, and severity of the defects found. The road was divided into 45 sample units along a 1,476.0 m length, allowing for more precise identification and location of existing deterioration. Among the main defects recorded were alligator cracking, aggregate polishing, patching, corrugations, longitudinal and transverse cracks, bleeding, and corner cracks. The results showed that section 1 of flexible pavement obtained an average PCI of 76.50 points, while section 2 of rigid pavement reached 92.667 points, and section 3 of flexible pavement obtained 73.75 points. Furthermore, a heterogeneous condition of the pavement was evident, as some sections presented high values while others showed greater levels of deterioration. In particular, section U43 registered the lowest PCI score, with 59 points, and was therefore considered one of the areas requiring the most attention. Overall, the avenue presented a predominantly favorable condition, with the rigid pavement performing better than the flexible pavement sections. Finally, it was determined that the PCI methodology had allowed for the identification of the main pathologies, the establishment of the conservation level of each section, and the definition of priorities for road maintenance and conservation actions. | es_PE |
