infraestructura propuesta. The present research, entitled "Proposed Solution to Improve the Low Efficiency of
Water Resources in the 'Colorada' Canal, Lambayeque 2022–2023", aimed
primarily to design a technical proposal aimed at increasing the efficiency of water
resource use in the aforementioned canal. To this end, the current efficiency of the
system was evaluated, pre-engineering studies were carried out, water availability
was determined, and a detailed budget was developed.
The methodology employed was quantitative and applied, involving topographic
surveys, soil mechanics studies, and hydrological analyses. Information from
previous field interventions was collected through direct observation, geospatial
tools, and specialized software. The study area encompassed the “Colorada” canal,
with a length of 1.471 km, located in an undulating topography with predominantly
clayey soils.
The results indicated a total irrigation efficiency of only 17.38%, broken down into
conveyance efficiency (41.96%), distribution efficiency (82.82%), and application
efficiency (50%). This low efficiency reflects significant losses due to infiltration and
outdated hydraulic structures. The technical proposal includes the reconstruction of
the canal with trapezoidal concrete sections, as well as the installation of 10 lateral
intakes, 5 retention structures, and 2 pedestrian crossings. With these
improvements, irrigation efficiency is estimated to increase to 33%, a value
considered acceptable for gravity irrigation systems.
Finally, the estimated budget for the execution of the project amounts to S/
2,246,756.88, covering all costs associated with the implementation of the proposed
infrastructure.
