Parachique is an area of great importance for fishing and mariculture, particularly for scallop farming. However, the expansion of these activities, along with the discharge of solid waste and wastewater, has increased the organic matter load, affecting the macrozoobenthos community. The objective of this study was to identify the genus or species of macrozoobenthos that serves as an indicator of pollution in the subtidal zone. To this end, five sampling stations were established along a transect perpendicular to the shore, spaced approximately one nautical mile apart. Samples were collected monthly using a Van Veen dredge (0.05 m2) and evaluated for abundance, density, biomass, and diversity indices (Shannon, Margalef, Pielou, and Simpson), as well as physicochemical parameters of the water and substrate characteristics. A total of 2,765 individuals belonging to 50 species were recorded, with the class Polychaeta representing the highest number of species (22 sp). The genera Pseudonereis sp. and Gammaropsis sp. exhibited the highest abundance at most stations and showed tolerance to environments with high levels of organic matter; therefore, they could be considered bioindicators of pollution. Biomass was dominated by Bivalvia (220.63 g/m2), primarily by Ostrea megodon at station E4. The ABC curves revealed periods of high environmental disturbance and phases of partial ecosystem recovery. Dissolved oxygen fluctuated between 2.8 mg/L and 8.8 mg/L, while temperature ranged from 18 to 26 °C. The substrate consisted of three main types (muddy, sandy-silty, and sandy with abundant shell fragments), providing favorable conditions for the establishment of benthic macrofauna.es_PE
