Acceso a nuevas tecnologías y capital social en jóvenes del centro poblado Capote, Picsi – Chiclayo

Abstract

Acceder a nuevas tecnologías brinda beneficios como un mayor acceso a información y permite desarrollar vínculos sociales con personas que no se encuentran físicamente. Sin embargo, este acceso también está teniendo impactos preocupantes en el capital social de las sociedades. En el centro poblado Capote, ubicado en el distrito de Picsi - Chiclayo, los pobladores jóvenes, están reemplazando las interacciones cara a cara con amigos locales por comunicaciones virtuales con personas de otras regiones, perdiendo así la oportunidad de desarrollar vínculos locales fuertes y un sentido de identidad con su comunidad. Por tal razón, es importante conocer los efectos positivos y negativos que representan estas tecnologías en el desarrollo del capital social. Partiendo de esta situación, la presente investigación tiene como objetivo estimar la relación entre el acceso a nuevas tecnologías y capital social en jóvenes del centro poblado Capote. Para lograr tal finalidad, se utilizó una metodología con enfoque cuantitativo de tipo básica, con diseño no experimental y de alcance correlacional. Así mismo, para la recolección de datos se usó como instrumento un cuestionario de 39 preguntas, dirigida a 100 jóvenes de entre 15 y 30 años. Teniendo como resultados que existe una relación positiva débil pero significativa, mostrando un coeficiente de correlación de Spearman de 0.203 entre acceso a nuevas tecnologías y capital social en los jóvenes de Capote, con una significancia bilateral de 0.043. En otras palabras, un mayor acceso tecnológico está relacionado con mayores niveles de capital social entre los jóvenes.

Access to new technologies provides benefits such as greater access to information and allows the development of social ties with people who are not physically present. However, this access is also having troubling impacts on the social capital of the community. The residents of the Capote village center, located in the Picsi-Chiclayo district, especially the young people, are replacing face-to-face interactions with local friends with virtual communications with people from other regions, thus losing the opportunity to develop strong local ties and a sense of identity with their community. For this reason, it is important to know the positive and negative effects that these technologies represent on the development of social capital. Based on this situation, this research aims to estimate the relationship between access to new technologies and social capital in young people of the Capote town center. To achieve this purpose, a methodology was used with a quantitative approach of basic type, with non-experimental design and correlational scope. Likewise, for data collection, a questionnaire of 39 questions was used as an instrument, addressed to 100 young people between 15 and 30 years. Having as results there is a weak but significant positive relationship, showing a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0,203 between access to new technologies and social capital in young people of Capote, with a bilateral significance of 0,043. In other words, greater access to technology is linked to higher levels of social capital among young people.
