Curanderismo y sanación en Túcume

Abstract

El presente estudio tiene como finalidad profundizar en la comprensión de las prácticas culturales vinculadas al curanderismo y la sanación en el distrito de Túcume, una tradición que trasciende el ámbito de la medicina convencional y se adentra en el terreno de lo espiritual y comunitario. Esta investigación se sustenta en un enfoque básico, con metodología cualitativa y un diseño etnográfico, lo que permite abordar la realidad cultural desde una perspectiva integradora y descriptiva, analizando las interacciones entre los actores sociales y su entorno. Además, la muestra incluyó a 7 curanderos y 7 pobladores que han sido partícipes directos de estas prácticas ancestrales y a quiénes se les aplicó una guía de entrevista estructurada. Entre sus principales resultados, se evidencia que el curanderismo no es solo un conjunto de técnicas curativas, sino una expresión cultural profundamente arraigada en la cosmovisión de los habitantes de Túcume. Esta práctica se ha transmitido de generación en generación, y su complejidad radica en su capacidad para abordar tanto el diagnóstico espiritual como el tratamiento físico y emocional de los pacientes. Además, las entrevistas realizadas a los pacientes se reveló una interacción compleja entre las creencias tradicionales y las percepciones individuales sobre la enfermedad y la curación. Estos rituales no solo buscan aliviar síntomas físicos, sino que también representan un proceso de sanación espiritual, en el cual la comunidad deposita su confianza y esperanza. Finalmente, se concluyó que el curanderismo en Túcume no solo desempeña un rol central en el tratamiento de dolencias físicas y espirituales, sino que también constituye una manifestación cultural profundamente enraizada en la cosmovisión local. Este sistema de creencias y prácticas, transmitido a lo largo del tiempo, refuerza el sentido de pertenencia y la cohesión social en la comunidad, convirtiéndose en un pilar fundamental para la vida comunitaria.

The present study aims to deepen the understanding of cultural practices related to curanderismo and healing in the district of Túcume, a tradition that transcends the field of conventional medicine and enters the spiritual and community realm. This research is based on a basic approach, with qualitative methodology and an ethnographic design, which allows approaching the cultural reality from an integrative and descriptive perspective, analyzing the interactions between social actors and their environment. In addition, the sample included 7 healers and 7 villagers who have been direct participants in these ancestral practices and to whom a structured interview guide was applied. Among the main results, it is evident that curanderismo is not only a set of healing techniques, but a cultural expression deeply rooted in the cosmovision of the inhabitants of Tucume. This practice has been passed down from generation to generation, and its complexity lies in its ability to address both the spiritual diagnosis and the physical and emotional treatment of patients. In addition, patient interviews revealed a complex interplay between traditional beliefs and individual perceptions of illness and healing. These rituals not only seek to alleviate physical symptoms, but also represent a spiritual healing process, in which the community places its trust and hope. Finally, it was concluded that curanderismo in Túcume not only plays a central role in the treatment of physical and spiritual ailments, but also constitutes a cultural manifestation deeply rooted in the local cosmovision. This system of beliefs and practices, transmitted over time, reinforces the sense of belonging and social cohesion in the community, becoming a fundamental pillar for community life.
