The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between impulsivity and
psychological well-being in adolescents from a public educational institution in Lambayeque,
2025. This was a basic study with a quantitative approach, a non-experimental design, and a
correlational, cross-sectional scope. The sample consisted of 223 adolescents from first to third
grade of secondary school, aged between 13 and 16 years. Data were collected using the Barratt
Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11), adapted by Chumacero and Rios (2024), and the Casullo
Psychological well-being Scale for Youth (BIEPS-J), adapted by Cortez (2016); both
instruments possess valid and reliable psychometric properties. Descriptive results revealed
that most students presented a medium level of impulsivity (78.5%) and a medium level of
psychological well-being (48.4%). Regarding the inferential analysis, a moderate inverse
correlation was found between both variables (ρ = -.409; p < .001). Furthermore, impulsivity
showed negative associations with all dimensions of psychological well-being, with "control
of situations" being the facet with the highest degree of association (ρ = -.319). These findings
suggest that impulsivity acts as a risk factor for emotional health, highlighting the importance
of implementing self-regulation strategies to strengthen psychological well-being in
adolescents.
