The objective of the research was to characterize, from an ethnographic and ethnological pers pective, the manifestations of water culture from the standpoint of integrated water resources management in the Chancay-Lambayeque watershed. It was conducted using a qualitative and interpretive approach, with an ethnographic-ethnological and hermeneutic orientation; data were collected through 13 interviews with key informants and the analysis of historical, regu latory, and institutional sources; open and axial coding, triangulation, and hermeneutic inte gration were applied. Based on the findings, it is clear that there is a strong link between the territorial and the historical—a space that brings to light practices and power relations su rrounding water; the experiences recounted reveal tensions within the Andean, Muchik-coas tal, and techno-economic spheres, all marked by water scarcity; today, the institutional frame work exhibits gaps that disconnect planning from the hydro-social reality, fostering a culture of pretense and creating a disconnect between the technical and social dimensions of mana gement, while the mita, faena, and the Taymi Canal still preserve historical identity and a sense of cooperation as cultural expressions; Water, in its natural-cultural context, constructs relationships of being, power, and duty, revaluing water culture as a collective and shared responsibility, a space for the common good, and a sphere where integrative decisions are made. It can be inferred that ancestral knowledge, participatory governance, and integrated management as an approach and strategy invigorate the culture of water at different scales; the Chancay-Lambayeque watershed, as a hydro-social territorial space, and the proposal for a management model that requires further validation, foster scenarios for a new culture of water.es_PE
