The overall objective of this research was to determine the relationship between
intrinsic motivation and meaningful learning in 3rd grade students at the I.E. N°
10145 “Narcisa Landázuri” school. The population consisted of 177 students from
sections A, B, C, D, and E of the 3rd grade, and the sample was selected non-
probabilistically, with 35 students from section 3B.
A quantitative approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational
design was used. The instruments applied were a Likert-type questionnaire for
students and an observation guide for teachers; these were validated through expert
judgment, and descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were used, with
Spearman's rank correlation test being the most appropriate for the study's
objectives.

The results showed that, regarding intrinsic motivation, 31.4% of students exhibited
a low level, 37.1% a medium level, and 31.4% a high level. For meaningful
learning, 50.7% of students showed a low level, followed by 47.5% at a medium
level. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient for the relationship between the
variables was 0.955 for students and 0.935 for teachers, both with statistical
significance (p < 0.001), suggesting a positive and significant relationship between
intrinsic motivation and meaningful learning.
The conclusions highlighted a significant relationship between intrinsic motivation
and meaningful learning, with motivation being a key factor in enabling students to
achieve deeper and more lasting learning. It was also concluded that, despite the
xx
observed levels of intrinsic motivation, there is considerable potential for
improvement in fostering student motivation and active participation, which could
enhance the quality of learning at the institution.
