“Carlos Augusto Salaverry” La Victoria – Chiclayo. Learning styles are the cognitive, affective and physiological traits that serve as relatively
stable indicators of how students perceive interactions and respond to their learning environments,
that is, the different ways in which an individual can learn. By the way, in the past and present
educational context, the constant problem in the teaching-learning process has been and is the low
academic performance of the students, which is evidenced in the low grades and a conformist
attitude on the part of the students to only pass the course or curricular area in Secondary Education.
Having as general objective To elaborate pedagogical workshops as metacognitive strategies based
on the learning styles to improve the academic performance of the students of the 3rd grade of
Secondary Education of the I. E. "Carlos Augusto Salaverry", in the Social Sciences Area.
It also means identifying the variables of the hypothesis to know the students' capacities,
which express what they have learned throughout the formative process and the capacities to respond
to the educational stimuli proposed by the teacher in the different learning activities in the classroom.
The acquisition of information demanded the interview, survey and the Honey - Alonso
questionnaire of learning styles (CHAEA). The hypothesis to be defended was: "If a metacognitive
strategy based on learning styles and supported by Honey-Mumford, Piaget and Vigotsky's theories
is designed, then the academic performance of the students of the 3rd grade of secondary education
of the I.E. "Carlos Augusto Salaverry" La Victoria - Chiclayo will be improved.
